Marie Lu was born in 1984 in Wuxi, China and later moved to Texas at age 5. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. 

The “Legend” trilogy was her first published work. Prior to writing, Lu was an art designer for the video game industry.
Synopsis:

The story takes place in the Republic of America. Following the collapse of the United States in 2054, the land was divided into two nations; The Republic of America and The Colonies of America. The east coast(now The Colonies) was heavily flooded due to which residents began immigrating to the west coast(The Republic). The first Elector Primo arose from the apocalyptic conditions and declared . The Republic a separate country and sealed off their borders to avoid unwanted immigration.War has waged on ever since. 

He is Day, The boy who walks in the light.She is June, the girl who seeks her brother’s killer. On the run, and undercover they meet by chance. Irresistibly drawn together. Neither knows the other’s past. But Day murdered June’s brother, and she will do anything to avenge his death.

Marie Lu has skillfully penned every single word in Legend. 

A great read for people of any age starting from 13 as it includes just a bit of everything
